Tell us about your boat
Five minutes now saves a service call later. Serial numbers let Heron order the right parts before we ever step aboard. Anything you're unsure of, leave blank; we verify everything at the first visit.
Tip: take a photo of each plate or sticker as you go. You'll be asked for them again someday, and a photo beats a transcription.
1. The boat
The HIN is stamped on the transom, starboard side, upper right. 12 characters, starts with the builder code (SERV for Sea Ray, for example). The CF number is on the bow decal or your registration card.
2. Engine and drive
Engine serial: sterndrives and inboards have a plate or sticker on the block, usually near the flame arrester or on the flywheel housing. Outboards have it on the transom bracket or under the cowl. It's also on your original purchase paperwork. Hours: read the hour meter at the helm, or from your chartplotter's engine page.
A boat has one or the other. Sterndrive: plate on the upper unit, on the side facing the transom. Outboard: plate on the transom bracket. Inboard: transmission plate on the gear housing behind the engine, usually top or side.
3. Systems
Cooling: if there's a coolant reservoir or a heat exchanger on the engine, it's closed. If only a raw-water pump and no coolant tank, it's raw water. Not sure? Leave it and we'll check.
4. Finish
We'll build your start-up checklist from what you entered and set a starting service schedule. You can change any of it later on the Vessel and Service tabs.
